IWSN researcher Dr Thanti Octavianti has been awarded a Challenge Prize Grant (£11,020) as part of the British Council’s Research Links Climate Challenge in Vietnam workshop, organised by the British Geological Survey (BGS) in June 2021.
Thanti is a Co-Investigator for the ‘Enhancing water resilience to climate and dam operation risks using hydrological models, space techniques and stakeholder engagement’ project, which will be led by Dr Bui Du Duong from the National Center for Water Resources Planning and Investigation (NAWAPI), Vietnam. The project will last for seven months, beginning in August 2021. The other team members are from several institutions based in the UK (HR Wallingford, BGS, Royal Holloway) and Vietnam (NAWAPI, Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources, An Giang University, Vietnam National University).
As an interdisciplinary project, it aims to i) explore the use of innovative modelling and space techniques to monitor dam safety and forecast water resources; and ii) develop a scalable stakeholder engagement and communication framework to improve water security risk communications.
