3rd IWSN Winter Conference takes place in Bristol

PhD student Navin Ramroop discusses the impact of
different vessel shapes on the resilience of wastewater
treatment tanks.

PhD and MSc students supported by the International Water Security Network gathered in Bristol for the annual winter conference on water-related resilience on 15-16 January 2018.  There were 18 presentations on a variety of topics ranging from water and development in the Global South (Ifeoma Ndubuisi, Jess Boulton) to permeable paving technologies and sustainable drainage (John Monrose).

The conference also heard from keynote speakers Dr Pekka Pietilä (Tampere University of Technology, Finland) about comparative water services in the Nordic countries and from Prof Colin Hills (Greenwich University) about Carbon8, an innovative paving material that is not only permeable but also captures carbon – a much needed double-win for our troubled planet!
