IWSN Director discusses ongoing water and development projects with SWIDN

Chad Staddon presenting at the event

On 20 February 2019, IWSN and UWE Bristol hosted a networking event with the South West International Development Network (SWIDN) to explore collaboration possibilities. More than 30 SWIDN members and UWE staff attended the event at the Arnolfini in Bristol. IWSN Director Prof Chad Staddon spoke about ongoing water and development research and capacity-building including the ‘Water Innovation Hub’ in southwestern Uganda and the recently launched Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems for Water Management continuing professional development courses in Africa.

After brief presentations from UWE and SWIDN representatives, the balance of the two-hour event was given over to networking over nibbles and drinks. Attendees enjoyed the event and it is anticipated that a number of new collaborations may result – watch this space!

The South West International Development Network (SWIDN) supports and connects NGOs, civil society, think tanks, academics, consultants and private sector organisations to work more efficiently and collaboratively towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
