IWSN in India for the Aditya Birla Group conference

IWSN Director Professor Chad Staddon was an invited Keynote Lecturer at the Aditya Birla Group’s 2018 sustainable business conference, ‘Coping with the 2 Degree World’, held in Mumbai, India on 19-20 September. Professor Staddon gave a keynote lecture on the ‘Water, Energy, Land Use Nexus’, in which he argued that whilst water, energy and land use challenges exist for the global business community, bottlenecks are already being created by the complex interactions between water, energy and land use.

“Land-energy-water nexus bottlenecks could lead to a drop in India’s GDP by 2060,” said Professor Staddon, adding that “as a global conglomerate, ABG is in an excellent position to nexus optimise its own processes across its many divisions and to interact with and educate regulators across the globe.”

Aditya Birla Group is a Mumbai-based multi-divisional conglomerate with over £40 billion in annual turnover and operations in 35 countries. It has a diverse portfolio of operations, including mining and minerals, textiles, design and manufacture of clothing, finance, retail and telecommunications.
