Wayne Powell handles administration and communications for the International Water Security Network. Before taking on this role in September 2013, he worked as a research associate at the University of the West of England (UWE) on a three-and-a-half-year project on Media Accountability and Transparency in Europe and the Arab World (MediaAcT). During this time, he co-authored several book chapters on media accountability and ethics, including one for The Phone Hacking Scandal: Journalism on Trial (2012).
He has worked for the Bristol-based journalism ethics charity MediaWise since 2003 as a researcher and administrator. He remains interested in media issues, including ethics, regulation and how social media can help encourage the public to hold the media to account. He has a BA (Hons) and MA in History, both from UWE.
Wayne enjoys watching films, reading and going to cultural events in and around Bristol.
