PHD STUDENTSHIP: Innovation of an Ecosystem-based Sustainability Assessment Methodology

Buro Happold and UWE Bristol are co-funding a full-time PhD studentship that will research a novel, comprehensive, ecosystem-focussed, methodology for assessing and guiding the sustainability of new build developments. It will be based in the Faculty of Environment and Technology at UWE Bristol.

It will draw together international research and best practice to identify and address gaps in existing approaches, innovating a comprehensive assessment and governance framework that will properly account for the implications for ecosystems at all stages of design, construction and management. This framework will be integrated and standards-based, seeking neutrality or regeneration of this supporting natural infrastructure whilst also addressing issues of social equity.

More details about the studentship, including eligibility criteria and how to apply, are available on the UWE website.

The closing date for applications is 20 January 2021, with an expected start date of 1 April 2021. For an informal discussion about the studentship, please email Dr Mark Everard on mark.everard@uwe.ac.uk.
